The successful candidate will be a part of the Chemistry Department’s Mass Spectrometry group within a large community of chemists and biologists supporting ecotoxicology, residue and product chemistry programs.  Candidates should be self-motivated, thriving in a research team environment and committed to using technology for societal and environmental impact on behalf of our clients.
 

  1. Job Duties
 
              Essential Functions:
 
  • Perform work under GLP and other appropriate regulatory guidelines.
  • Under supervision operate, maintain and be technically competent in LC-MS/MS systems including calibration and systems qualification to provide accurate and reliable data.
  • Generate, process, compile and reduce data for GLP reports.  May provide information for initial data interpretation and test system conformance to expectations.
  • Develop new methods and update / upgrade existing methods for quantitative analyses under the direction of a principal investigator to meet business needs.
  • Detect and report problems in standardized procedures due to instrumental, sample, or test system failures.

  1. Chemical Safety
 
  1. Must be able to comprehend the potential hazards of the chemicals in use and adhere to the proper safety techniques as dictated by the Safety Manual and/or Management.
 
  1. Laboratory Safety
 
  1. Must be able to wear gloves, lab coat, eye protection, sleeves, hearing protection, pesticide suit, plastic booties, dust masks, a respirator and a face mask.
 
  1. Must be able to understand and follow laboratory safety standards.
 
Job Specifications
 
  • B.S. degree in chemistry/biochemistry or life sciences or at least 5-year’s equivalent experiences and established knowledge of working in a GLP instrumentation laboratory.
  • Experience with method development and analysis using chromatography various chromatographic platforms (Shimadzu, Agilent) coupled to AB Sciex triple quad and TOF mass spectrometers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; good interpersonal skills, demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; multitasking capabilities; familiarity with (or ability to rapidly learn) computers and software packages from various instrument manufacturers.
