Residue Chemist
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in custom built laboratories within the Environmental Sciences Group of Smithers Viscient. Based in Harrogate we are currently recruiting Analytical Chemists to work within out Residue Chemistry/Sample Analysis group.
You will be involved in performing the day to day laboratory phase of studies which are designed to determine levels of pesticides residues in foodstuff for inclusion in regulatory dossiers.
The main duties of this role will be extraction and analysis of various samples (including aquatic and sediment media from ecotoxicology and crop/animal residue samples) for trace levels of pesticides and other chemicals, using a range of techniques including SPE, HPLC, GC, LC-MS and GC-MS. Development and validation of analytical methods will also be a key part of the role.
Responsibilities of your role may vary dependant on qualifications and relevant experience.
Qualifications and Experience
Typically educated to BSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a related subject. Practical experience of analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS(MS) and GC-MS in the Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical or CRO industry. Experience in a GLP laboratory environment.
Excellent IT skills, motivation, communication and organizational skills.
